According to Dover Police, officers responded at approximately 12:44 a.m. to the Unit Block of South New Street, just south of West Division Street, following reports of a serious motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 2013 Nissan Murano that had left the roadway and struck a tree on the east side of the street.

Aalyah Casson was found inside the vehicle suffering from critical injuries. Officers and emergency medical personnel immediately rendered life-saving aid at the scene. Despite their swift and dedicated efforts, she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Casson had been traveling westbound on West Division Street before turning left onto South New Street.
